House Mouse Again

Good morning! I hope you're having a great day so far! So I found out this weekend, that I've been washing my hair wrong my whole life lol. Seriously! I have a lot of broken hairs, and I was googling how to prevent them, and apparently a lot of them come from how I've been washing my hair! The broken hairs curl up and the ends and look frizzy. Now that I'm not scrubbing my head with my fingernails, and rubbing it dry with a towel (your supposed to blot it), I'm having hardly any frizz, without using any of the many frizz products that I usually use. It's crazy, just about everyone I've talked to had been doing it the same way I was. I also mixed together some olive oil, mayo and an egg and put that in my hair (the amounts don't really matter much, but the more oil the better). Wow, it makes it very soft! I left it in for 1 1/2 hours, but you don't have to do it that long. You should leave it for at least a 1/2 hour, and as long after as you can stand it, and then just shampoo it out. I'm going to start doing this once a week. I am amazed! Anyway, I just wanted to share in case any of you are having frizz problems too. wink

I am loving these adorable House Mouse images! I've got to buy some of these. I used Taylor's sketch challenge from a couple of weeks ago. It seems like I'm always at least a week behind on sketch challenges. This is totally random, but if you like Taylor Swift and/or T-Pain, you've got to watch THIS video! It's so funny!! I love them both, and it's so funny to see Taylor Swift rappin'.

SCS Sketch

Good morning! Well jury duty yesterday actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I was told that they call in 65 people and pick 7-12 from that, but there were actually 300 of us there, minus those that were excused or didn't show. They said it was really busy week, so I think they actually ended up using most of us on different trials. The trial I was on started yesterday, and I was supposed to go back for the whole week, but last night hubby noticed the car leaking transmission fluid. We brought it to a mechanic and he said it looks like the seal is broken which isn't gonna be cheap to fix rolleyes. I called the courthouse and explained the situation, luckily they were understanding and excused me for the rest of the week. Anyway, I had this post scheduled for Wednesday since I didn't think I'd have much time to make any thing this week, but now that I do, I thought I'd go ahead and post it. I made this card for the sketch challenge on SCS. This was a fun sketch!

Birthday Dragon

Good morning! I hope you are had a great weekend. This post is scheduled since I'll be at the courthouse for jury duty today rolleyes. I'm really hoping I don't get picked, but if I do that's where I'll be all week, so I'm not sure how much I'll be around. I do have another post scheduled for Wednesday though. I think it's ridiculous that they make 65 people come down there, when they only need 7-12. On the bright side though, we have a second car now! We actually got it a few months ago, but we just got tags and all that, so I can get a job now! Or I guess with this economy, I should say try to find one.
So isn't this dragon just about the cutest thing you've ever seen?! This is a free digital stamp by Dustin Pike. This the first time I've tried digital stamps, and I love them! It's so nice to be able to make images any size you want, you don't have to store them and I can blend as much as I want with out the ink bleeding. I LOVE this image! There is another dragon for Easter that is really cute too. I had it all colored and ready to stick on a card when I ruined it. It was laying on the table as I was coloring the image on another card, and it was under an open pink Copic I was using. I figured I better get it out of the way before I got ink on it, so I carelessly picked it up with the marker still on top of it and managed to draw a pink line through most of the image rolleyes. Oh well. I guess I can just consider that one practice wink. I got the idea for the clouds from Michelle Redman. She used a dauber with a scallop circle, but I don't have any daubers, so I used a sponge. It was so easy!

Thoughts and Prayers Birthday

Good morning! Hope you had a nice weekend! I got a lot of stamping done, but hardly anything actually completed. I'm so bad about starting a card and setting it aside to start another one. I finally got a box to put unfinished cards in so I don't forget about them. There's also a bunch of images in there I've colored that I haven't done anything with yet. razz BTW, no signs of the nasty little centipede since it so rudely visited me Thursday. Whew! I hope to never see that hideous thing again. Hopefully all those nasy little legs carried his ugly self back outside where he belongs. Anyway, I thought I'd use my Thoughts and Prayers set. I really love these stamps, but they aren't getting much use since I can't color them wink. I need to stop discriminating against my solid image stamps, lol. I used one of the stamps from So Many Sayings with my SAMJ to make the stripes (my set is cut apart and mounted on jenga blocks).

Hope you have a great day!!

BTW, make sure you check out Tiffany's blog. She is giving away some great stuff!!

Stamp Something Challenge

Good morning!! Happy New Year!! The theme for this weeks Stamp Something Challenge is New Somethings. Create a project using something new, like maybe something you received for Christmas or a new color combo or technique..whatever! Well this was an easy one for me, since I got a bunch of new goodies for Christmas mrgreen. Oh, and yesterday I went to Hobby Lobby and they have a bunch of stuff half off, like all rubber stamps! I got a bunch of new stamps, and then I went to Michael's to see if they would price match and they did so I got more there biggrin. Ahh, nothing beats new stamps...especially when they're half price! Anyway, here is my card. This stamp is one I got for Christmas. I'm so happy I finally have a stamp that is good for masculine cards! Love this lighthouse! The Impression Obsession stamps are so fun to color! The layout is this weeks Sketch Challenge on SCS.

SC204 and a recipe =)

Aren't these monkeys adorable! I've been wanting this set for a few months, so when I saw it at Hobby Lobby last night I had to get it! I got 4 more Copics and a Brilliance ink pad toorazz. This one is working great. I don't know whats up with the palette. I've seen a bunch of people say that's what they use, but it runs like crazy for me, even if I heat set it. This card uses the sketch challenge on SCS, 204.

-Stamps-Mindy's Zoo by Autumn Leaves, It's your Birthday
-Paper-Wild Wasabi, Purely Pomegranate and Whisper White cardstock; Washington Apple DSP
-Ink-Brilliance graphite black, Wild Wasabi and Copics.

I wanted to share a great recipe with you too. I'm actually making this right now, to bring with us tomorrow. We are going to NC to see hubby's family. This is one of my favorite deserts! I'll warn you, it's rich, and I'm sure it's horrible for you wink.

Caramel Pie
2 cans sweetened condensed milk
Graham cracker pie crust
Small container of Cool Whip
Mini Chocolate Chips (or shaved Hershey's bar) to sprinkle on top

I always double this recipe, since it's not trouble at all to make more, you just need a bigger pot.
Remove the labels from the cans of sweetened condensed milk. Scrap off the glue with a fork or something. It will leave a nasty very hard to remove ring in your pot if you don't. Boil the cans of sweetened condensed milk ON THEIR SIDES (just in case they bust) for 2 1/2 hours. Make sure they are fully covered with water at all times because they could cause them to burst. Rotate the cans every half hour or so. Drain the water, and once the cans are cooled off, put them in the refrigerator. Wait at least 2 hours before you open the cans. Empty the cans into a bowl and stir. Then just put the caramel into the pie crusts. Top with cool whip and mini chocolate chips. Let it sit in the refrigerator a few more hours or overnight if possible to firm up. It tastes better later too.

Oh, and if you want to knock off some of the calories, you can use one can of reduced fat sweet condensed milk and one regular for each pie (I've never tired doing both). You really can't tell. It just makes it slightly less rich. I actually prefer it this way, but I forgot about that when I was buying sweetened condensed milk yesterdayrolleyes.

BTW, I've never had a can burst, but it's always best to be on the safe side. If you don't feel comfortable with this method though, I've seen a recipe where you empty the cans into a slow cooker and cook for 6 hours. I've never tried it though.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Fall Flowers

Good afternoon! I hope everyone is having a great day! I'm not too sure the flower fusion goes on this card, but I couldn't figure out how else to finish itwink. I really wish we had a stamp set to match that DSP, cuz I LOVE it! I'm sad to see it on the retiring list, although I knew it would be there. I hate when stuff retiressad. I'd be much happier if we had like a 600 page catalogmrgreen.

I am loving sewing on cards! So easy, and it adds so much. Now I'm thinking I need one of those little sewing machines. Mine is a big pain in the butt to drag out.

Wild About You

Well this one came out totally different from what I started. I started using A Beautiful Thing. I love that set, but it isn't getting quite enough love (aside from the sentiment) so I've been trying to make myself use it more. So I started with the flowers, even had them cut out then decided the colors I was using just looked funny with such pretty flowers, so I went with this instead. The way I did the DSP actually started off unintentional. The DSP was a little bigger than I wanted so I cut 1/8 of an inch. I put it down next to the other piece and realized I like it, so I did it on the other side too. -Stamps-Wild About You and It's Your Birthday
-Paper-Soft Sky, Chocolate Chip, Blue Bayou, Kraft and Whisper White; Fall Flowers DSP
-Ink-Blue Bayou and Soft Sky
-Accessories-Old Olive marker, Chocolate Chip wide grosgrain.

BTW, I cut my hair this weekend! Yes...I CUT IT! I've gotten way to many bad hair cuts over the years (and I mean BAD), so I decided to do it myself. I've actually been cutting it for the last year or two, but up till this point I've been to scared to do anything but a regular cut. I found a couple of video tutorials on YouTube for giving yourself layers. I used THIS one and THIS one. I can't believe this worked! All you have to do is put your hair in a ponytail at the top of your head, hold the ponytail up in the air and cut straight. The second link shows basically the same thing, only she just put up the top part of her hair, so I used that to put in more layers. I actually put in 3 layers, but I can't seem to find the other two, lol. I tried to curl the ends so they layers would show better, but my hair doesn't like curls =).

It's a big one!

I made this card for my mom's birthday. We threw a surprise birthday party for her this weekend. It went great. I can't believe all of us managed to keep it a secret so long. I wanted to make her a big card that had room for everyone to sign so this is a whole sheet of cardstock folded in half (5.5X8.5). It took me forever to figure out how to fill up so much space. I mean this is twice what I'm used to working with. I know I just posted a card very similar to this recently, but I knew my mom would love the faux silk and I wanted to use the pink ribbon so I went with the same colors too.
-Stamps-Artfully Asian, It's your Birthday

-Ink-Black Staz-on, Whisper White craft
