Thursday Sketch # 7

Here is my Thursday sketch for this week.
I had a really hard time with this sample. It just looked like something was missing at the top. Finally I used the tab punch and stamped merry from Perfect Endings (retired) on it, now I'm happy with it. I know it's kind of an odd sketch but Crazy for Christmas (retired) seemed to work perfect. I think Festive Favorites or Big on Christmas would work, but I didn't have either of those. I really need more stamps. I do have an order coming Monday though! I can't wait! Sorry for all of the retired stuff, but it just seemed to work. I'm pretty limited on Christmas sets right now too. I only have a couple that are current.

My stamp room

Well, I thought I'd finally post some pictures of my stamp room. I just cleaned it last night (well for the most part anyway). Hubby built the table for me a few years ago. As you can see, it's not completely done yet. We sill have to cover the 2'X4' front and legs with something. Other than that though I love it. The table is 4' deep and 8 foot long so it gives me plenty of room. If your wondering what the lines are all over the front of the table, those are one foot measurements. I did a ribbon swap a long time ago, so that made it much easier to measure yards of ribbon.

This is how I store my stamps. I wanted them all the all on display where I can easily see them. This is most of them, but the stuff I don't like anymore is shoved in the bottom drawer. Most of the shelves I built...thats why they're so crooked. Aside from the top one, the rest were built out of some scraps of wood, so I didn't even have to cut anything. I would like to redo these someday though and make them look nicer.
I made these of of green bean cans. I just covered them with cardstock and stamped on them. I wrapped the cardstock around part of the inside too to cover the jagged edges.This is my ribbon rack. I made this myself. The whole thing was made out of drawer fronts. Hubby used to work at a cabinet shop, so he got to take home all the scraps he wanted. This was also my first experience using a chop saw. I'm happy to say I still have all 10 fingers, lol. I really liked the design of the SU ribbon rack, but I'm kinda of " I want it now" person, so I just went a built it. I did have to have hubby nail it together for me though. I can use regular nails, but the little tiny ones I can't do anything with but bend.This is how I store my cardstock. I picked this up at Target a while back on clearance for $13 thanks to a thread I saw on SCS. Here is a closer view of the top.And of course, I had to put my computer right on my table so I wouldn't have to go far for inspiration.

I got this tag a long time ago, so let me see if I can come up with something different this time.

1) I am completely obsessed with Desperate Housewives. I refuse to miss an episode.

2) I am 5'11". Sure does make it hard to find pants long enough.

3) I normally start decorating for Christmas right about this time. Last year I did it before Halloween. It was pretty funny that we had carved pumpkins on the front porch and the whole house decked out in Christmas.

4) My belly button is pierced, and I have a tattoo on my back. I used to have my tongue pierced too (very very painful by the way) , but I had to take it out a long time ago for work.

5) My husband and I recently decided to start riding bikes to get in better shape. I never realized how hard it was. The last time I was on a bike it was the kind you pedal backward to stop. Now I'm lucky to make it to the end of my driveway and back...but it is a long driveway, lol.

6) I hate cooking real food, but I love making deserts.

7) I hate glazed donuts. They are so sweet they just me me feel sick. They only kind I like are the plain chocolate ones. I hate filled donuts too.

In the Spotlight Z fold card

This was for Beate's weekend sketch challenge #25. The challenge was to make a z card. It's just a 4.25X11 piece of cardstock folded in half, the half it it pulled back to the main fold. I just got to play around with In The Spotlight. My best friend let me borrow it(Thanks Caroline!)
I think my main piece on this card is petty crooked, along with birthday. I think happy is a tad crooked too. I guess I just can't stamp straight tonight.
I stamped the background in Wild Wasabi stamped off for a lighter look, but you can see at the bottom on one flower I forgot to stamp off first, lol.

Season of Joy SC147

I made this card for the Sketch Challenge on SCS (SC147). I had to turn the sketch around a bit though to make the image fit. For the image, I just inked up with markers 'tis the Season JOY portion of the stamp. I thought it looked a little plain though, so I inked up the poinsettia's and stamped those above and blow the image. Then I just sponged around the edges with River Rock.

Another Snowflake Spot card

This card was for the DSketch1007 challenge for Fan Club Members on SCS. The sketch was changed a pretty good bit though. The circle was supposed to be much smaller (like the SU scallop punch) but I didn't have that punch when I made the card, or a circle to punch to put inside (and my circle cutter won't go that small). This piece of hodgepodge I've actually never used before. I have a ton of them because I've never found a use for them. The Pomegranate ribbon was run through first and tied around the inner rectangle, then the Blue Bayou piece was run through. I think it looks a little bit funny, but I'm glad I finally found something to do with that piece.
