It's a cupcake kind of day

Good afternoon! I just made this card for the sketch challenge on SCS. This was a fun sketch! Tons of possibilities. What do you think of the pearls? Do they look out of place to you? I can't decide if I like them there or not. I'm trying to get more into the details, but I suck at details, lol. If you notice, I hardly ever use embellishments on my cards (aside from ribbon and sometimes HPH), but it's usually because I don't know where to put them! Anyway, I recently bought some pearls, rhinestones and buttons and I'm going to try my best to actually use them!

-Stamps-Impression Obsession Cupcakes
-Paper-Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa and Whisper White
-Ink-Chocolate Chip, Memento black, Copic Markers
-Accessories-Pearls, HPH, Pretty in Pink taffeta, swiss dots cuttlebug folder

Stop by Michelle's blog for a chance to win some Copic Markers and a couple of stamps!

Stamp Something Challenge-Recipe cards

Good morning! The theme for this weeks Stamp Something Challenge is Recipe Somethings. Any type of recipe project. I've actually been working on mine for a while, so it worked out perfectly that this was the challenge this week. I still need to find a box though.
I loved this stamp set From the Kitchen of from SU, but I didn't like the recipe cards. There was hardly any room to write. Out of all of the recipes I wrote down, only two of them would fit on one card. I didn't want multiple cards per recipe either, so this was my solution.
Just a piece of cardstock measuring 5 1/4 X 6 1/2. I created a word document and set the page size to that and just filled it with lines. Then I just folded it in half with the lines on the inside and then stamped the recipe card image on the front. I also made a few like this for really long recipes. Please excuse my chicken scratch rolleyes.
Same concept as the one above but this one measures 5 1/4 X 9 1/4. My original plan was to use the slit punch at the bottom of the cards so I could tuck in the flap and keep them from being bulky, but I kept forgetting to order the darn thing. So yesterday I pulled out my recipe cards (they've been just stacked up assembled for a while ) and they were perfectly flat, so I decided I didn't need the slit punch after all.

I still have a few more recipes to copy, so so far I don't have anything for the veggies or soups section...notice the desert stack is the thickest, lol. I don't really like to cook real food, but I'm all about deserts!

Now I just need a box to put them in. I'm having a hard time finding one I like. =)

My time sketch

Hey! I hope you're all having a good day so far! I haven't done a darn thing today but stamp biggrin. Well, ya know the snow I mentioned yesterday? After I got done with my post, I looked outside and it was all gone except for little bits here and there. It snowed most of the day but no more stuck. Oh well, maybe next year. I did get my catalog yesterday though!!

I used Lauren Meader's sketch 19 for these cards. The sketch was from a couple of weeks ago, I've been meaning to do it and just kept forgetting about it. Love this layout! It's so much harder for me to use small images, but this sketch is perfect for small stuff.
-Stamps-Impression Obsession Cupcakes, Hey Cupcake sentiment
-Paper-Whisper White, Chocolate Chip and Pretty in Pink cardstock; Pretty in Pink and Soft Sky DSP.
-Ink-Chocolate Chip, Memento tuxedo black, Copic markers
-Accessories-Pretty in Pink taffeta, Nestabilities, circle punches.

I loved the sketch so much, I had to make another!

HELP! Do any of you know much about sewing machines? Look at the picture below. See how the thread that should be underneath his pulled through the top a little in some places? How do I make it stop doing this? It just started doing this recently and I don't have a clue how to make it stop. It's a lot more noticeable on straight stitches. I've tried adjusting the tension, but that doesn't seem to be helping, unless I just didn't do it enough or something. Any ideas?

ETA: Thanks ladies! It turns out it was the bobbin tension. I didn't even know there was such a thing, but all I had to do was turn a screw on the bobbin casing a little bit and now it works perfectly again! Woohoo!! mrgreen

-Stamps-Tart & Tangy, Impression Obsession cupcakes (sentiment)
-Paper-Old Olive, Kraft and Whisper White cardstock; Summer Picnic DSP
-Ink-Real Red, Old Olive
-Accessories-Nestabilities, Circle punches, sewing machine, white thread, Olive grosgrain and blender pen.

Fluffles

Hey everyone! We finally got some snow today biggrin! I LOVE snow! We didn't get a whole lot though. It looks like about 1/2". It hasn't even completely covered the ground yet, but it is still snowing. I hope we get enough to have some fun it! I think it's been a few years since we've had enough.

I've been debating about walking to the mail box and see if my catalog is in there. It's so cold outside though, and it's probably about a 10 minute walk there and back. I'm getting kinda sick of making that freezing walk everyday and walking back without a catalog in my hands! I saw it online last night though. I really like it. There is so much stuff I want! I LOVE the tree in that sympathy set! Oh, and Classy and Fabulous! That is too cute! Don't really love her hair, but I think I'm getting it anyway. I think I'd use that set a lot.

This is a stamp I got around Christmas that hasn't seen ink yet, so I had to use it. Isn't it cute?!

-Stamps-Stampendous Full Fluffles
-Paper-Pretty in Pink, Purely Pomegranate and Whisper White cardstock; Pretty in Pink prints and Cutie Pie DSP.
-Ink-Memento tuxedo black and Copic markers
-Accessories-silver brads, Pretty in Pink taffeta ribbon.

Stamp Something Challenge

Hey everybody! This is my card for this weeks Stamp Something Challenge. This weeks theme is Birthday Somethings. My brother in law's birthday is coming up, so I made this for him. Sorry for posting it so late. The phone lines and DSL have been down in my area. It's so weird, there weren't any storms or anything, but it went out yesterday afternoon and they just got the problem fixed. When we called yesterday to see what was going on, they didn't even know about the problem and predicted it would be fixed by the end of tomorrow. Glad it didn't take that long! I was so freakin' bored! It seems like when the phone and internet are out that all you feel like doing is talking on the phone and getting online rolleyes. I think I spend more time reading about stamping and seeing what everyone else stamped that actually stamping, lol.

Anyway, I did the brayered sky technique on this card, which of course was inspired by Michelle Zindorf. If your not familiar with her work, you've got to check out her blog! She has a bunch of awesome tutorials. I just started by embossing the trees, then brayered on Apricot Appeal, then a little Pumpkin Pie. I can't remember if I used Really Rust on this one or not. I did a bunch of them just playing around. Then I sponged a little black at the bottom. I think I might make a big pile of them for men cards. My husband was sooo impressed! He said that it's the coolest card I've ever made mrgreen. What a sweetie! Did I tell you he brought me a bouquet of flowers for no reason the other day! They are the most gorgeous tulpis and roses mrgreen!

And I just realized I'm kinda running late, so I can't post the recipe right now. Hubby and I are supposed to be somewhere in 15 minutes, so I gotta run! If you have any questions just email me or leave a comment. Hope you all have a great day! Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT's projects on the Stamp Something Blog! I can't wait to get back so I can!!

Lovin' my Nestabilities!

Good morning! I made these last week and just kept forgetting to post them. I only have the rectangle and circle nestabilities so far, but I wanted to do a square, so I just cut some out of the rectangle. I can't believe it worked! Now I don't even need the squares smile. Hehe, my ribbon is pretty crooked in the picture. It's not glued down though, so I can fix it.

-Paper-Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue, and Whisper White
-Ink-Memento tuxedo black, Chocolate Chip, Copic Markers

These next two, I made for the Viva la Verve Challenge. It was a sketch challenge, but with a twist. You had to use hardware on it too. I did use some hodgepodge hardware on the first one, but I just couldn't make it work on the second. I got some new Christmas stamps recently, so I can't resist in making a couple of Christmas cards! These stamps are fun to color too! Man, everything is fun to color with these markers! Ever since I got them, my solid stamps are kind of getting neglected.

Stamp Something Challenge

Good morning!! Happy New Year!! The theme for this weeks Stamp Something Challenge is New Somethings. Create a project using something new, like maybe something you received for Christmas or a new color combo or technique..whatever! Well this was an easy one for me, since I got a bunch of new goodies for Christmas mrgreen. Oh, and yesterday I went to Hobby Lobby and they have a bunch of stuff half off, like all rubber stamps! I got a bunch of new stamps, and then I went to Michael's to see if they would price match and they did so I got more there biggrin. Ahh, nothing beats new stamps...especially when they're half price! Anyway, here is my card. This stamp is one I got for Christmas. I'm so happy I finally have a stamp that is good for masculine cards! Love this lighthouse! The Impression Obsession stamps are so fun to color! The layout is this weeks Sketch Challenge on SCS.
